TIMOTHY WRIGHT

Coach Tim Wright brings with him to the Colorado Charge a great deal of football knowledge and playing experience. Currently Coach Wright is on the staff of Dave Logan's 2014 state champions, the Cherry Creek Bruins. In 1992 and 1993 he attended the University of Tennessee and Knoxville College, where he studied physical education and business. In 2007, Coach Wright returned from Bolzano, Italy, where he coached the Bolzano Giants of the NFL Italy. Serving as the assistant head coach defensive coordinator, Coach Wright’s defense was ranked number one overall due to having the number one and two sack leaders as well as having the top interception leader of the Italian league. The Giants finished the season 13-1, with the only loss coming in the championship game.

Tim played his college days at the University of Tennessee and Knoxville College, where he started as corner and receiver, as well as quarterback, receiver, and punter. Coach Wright was a very athletic player and did whatever he could for the success of the team. In 1992, Tim ranked with the best in the nation in passing and punting averages. With his abilities on the field, Tim was scouted heavily by the Raider, Browns, Rams and Giants, to name a few, and in 1994 was one play and injury away from signing with the Denver Broncos. For several years after that, Tim was injured for several practice squads and tryouts, but due to injuries and family matters things didn't turn that direction. The dream didn’t stop there, and Tim played in the AFL, AF2, IPFL, IFL, NIFL and UIF, where he was a standout on both offense and defense. Tim has coached at the professional level as well as high school and little league, which has been his favorite. Tim has worked in correctional facilities, treatment facilities, summer camps and high school settings.

Currently Tim has his own sports and youth training and development business, called On The Wright Path, and is heavily involved in the community. On The Wright Path has created an exciting program that starts at the roots and nurtures outward with youth sports and development camps, training, and mentoring programs. This program provides understanding and development of individual growth for the short and the long term and gives children and youth the skills to make better decisions and healthier life choices. Young people learn how to deal with life, school, and family, giving them the opportunity to become responsible, healthy, empowered individuals and members of the community. Physical activities and group interactions help children and youth develop a strong work ethic and teach them the importance of setting goals and working towards their goals in all aspects of their lives. The program helps children and youth better themselves and push themselves in the sports they love and want to grow in.

Coach Wright is very proud of his family and attributes his love of the game to his father Samuel Wright Jr., who was an amazing athlete in both football and basketball, and cousin Eric Wright of the championship San Francisco 49ers; and on his mother Theodosia Draher’s side, Herb Adderley of the championship Green Bay Packers coached by Vince Lombardi. Wright has several children, and the bloodline has continued to flow: Timothy Wright Jr, has played basketball overseas, Dawnielle Burl-Wright won state in track, Joshua Wright was a standout high school football player who earned a college scholarship and won state in track, Nicholas Wright is playing varsity football as a sophomore at Cherry Creek High School, Tayvian Wallace plays baseball and basketball at Cherry C reek High School, and Jaden, Taylor and Lanaya are ones to watch.
